Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.
The States of Gujarat, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
Admission to Postgraduate Courses (Master’s and Doctoral) in the country, with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/Assistantships in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science, is open to those who qualify in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The GATE score is also used by some PSUs for their recruitment.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) conducts its entrance exam VITEEE, based on which candidates are admitted to the first year of under graduate degree in engineering i.e. Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Technology.
